‘Brat’ is Another Masterful Charli XCX Experiment

The release of Brat for Charli XCX was revolutionary. In her sixth studio album the artist dropped singles and music videos that changed the music scene. Her latest music video includes a plethora of internet celebrities including Emma Chamberlain and Julia Fox.

This album is extremely experimental being so different from her previous album, Crash. Charlis co producer A. G. Cook refused to shy away from her initial “in your face” vibe that she had had since 2010.

In one of her songs, “Club Classics” she makes it apparent to shout out her creative crew with outlandish instrumentation while on the pre-chorus she ditches her normal autotune. Upon initial listening you would believe that the album was simply about partying. But, upon digging deeper into the lyrics she speaks upon her relentless jealousy in her relationship with The 1975 singer George Daniel.

On her closing track she takes her party girl persona to the absolute extreme with “365”. She sings about her coke habit and creates a hilarious commentary about her habit repeating the lines “bumpin that”

With the most experimental and personal release to date Charli shows her true potential.
