Framing Statement
Learning Outcome 3 & 4
Learning outcome 3 is explained as using active reading for learning and thinking. When reading my peers work I have to gage what their thesis is about. When I finally understand what the thesis is about I will be able to understand why they connected the authors for the same reasons that they did. I will also use my skills from reading previous writings to connect the quotes and why they fit in the place they put them the best.
Learning outcome 4 is seen as being able to critique others work. When reviewing classmates essays I worked on outlines and almost complete drafts. Most of the time I was working with the same people so I got to see how they did or didn’t use my advises int he initial revision process. This shows me what works when revising someones paper and what doesn’t. Something that I highlighted when revision my classmates paper was meeting the essay requirements, such as number of quotes and a strong thesis. This is because the simple details within the outline can tend to get lost when writing such a long paper.
Something I also learned throughout this process is that you don’t always have to point out the negatives of the paper and what they need to fix, you also have the opportunity to tell the person they did a “Great Job” in a certain section or highlight work they explained very well. It helps the person on the other side of the paper realize that they are doing good work along with some revisions.
Learning Outcome 3 : Active Reading & Learning Outcome 4 : Peer Revision
Shown below is a revision I made on a classmates first essay outline. Within the outline I made sure she knew she had to always relate back to the authors and found her thesis.
