Psych Up/Calm Down Video
Statement of Purpose
My video is designed and intended as something to sit down and watch before I have an interview. Implemented within the video I added sections such as affirmations, tips, and anecdotes. For me, personally, these are the topics that will help me most and calm me down before an interview.
To achieve a calming effect I incorporated softer colors, calming scenes of wildlife and graphics, and a calming song playing in the background. This creates a calming effect when watching and you might not even realize.
Getting reminded of the simple tasks before an interview is something that I made sure to include. So, in my tip section I included calling a family member, working out, and eating a meal. These are all things that calm me down personally. This is because before an interview you may get in your own head and be reminded to slow down and make sure you are put together and have eaten. These are simple steps you can remind yourself of that will make or break an interview.
The anecdotes I have included in this video remind not only that all of my experiences as a student and a worker are valuable but practicing saying them and reading them help me sound more professional during the interview process. I am able to implement my experiences from my jobs by expressing that I have experience working in a fast paced environment with customers and have been mentored previously before. I am also able to express as a student I have worked with deadlines previously and implement what I have learned in class to the job.
The overall feel of the video is for me to be focused on self-assurance and determination to do well during this interview. While watching it I am reassured that I am prepared and I am able to handle what is coming.
