Project as a Whole Reflection

Project as a Whole Reflection

When we first started this project we had to come up with two pitches for our topic. I chose “The University of New England’s College of Business recently partnered with Maine Mariners to bridge the gap between academics and industry by collecting research. When obtaining this research how will UNE help benefit The Maine Mariners for the long run?” and “The President Forum comes up this month on the 13th and we prompt the question “Are Colleges and Universities too Liberal?” What do political science major students think about this upcoming topic?” and ultimately landed on a story about UNE and The Maine Mariners.

When I created my first version of this piece I started with the basics. I introduced the people that I interviewed with their quotes and gave background information on UNE and The Maine Mariners which helped me out tremendously in the long run. After the basics I added more to the story about how each program benefits the other. After I had all of this information I went though and spell checked and checked my grammar choices. This step took my piece to the next level and made it more professional.

I had many breakthrough moments when writing this piece. With each interview I conducted and was able to get it added to more and more crucial pieces of information. I loved every interview I got and the quotes I was able to grab from my conversations were very meaningful.

Right now I am working on making my piece as pristine as possible. I am hoping to send this article to Emily, chief and editor of The Bolt to get it posted so for my future careers I can have an efficient portfolio. This assignment did not only get me out of my comfort zone by interviewing important people but gave me an opportunity to further my career.
