Workshop Reflection
During our in class workshop today I got to get in person feedback from one of the group members. We first went over what I did well within my piece. One of the things Anthony brought up was how he enjoyed the headline and the subheadlines. He enjoyed how they were captivating and had the proper amount of words. One of the criticisms that Anthony gave was that I introduced my first quote more than halfway into the piece. This is why the workshop was helpful, it made me see things that are so simple but I didn’t seem to catch it. So when reworking my article I will be sure to include some quotes from Emme earlier into the article.
When I got the opportunity to read my other teammates’ reflections online I found that they also enjoyed the headline and subheadline. They also enjoyed that I decided to do my piece on a student instead of a professor. It shed a light on a different side of the university. They also stated that it would work in my favor to get quotes from another source. I agree with this because it will give Emme credibility for her piece. Another criticism that I received was to split up my paragraphs so it is more digestible. This is another piece of feedback that I will use in my story. When I was reading my own article I thought that it was digestible but from an outside perspective of someone who knows nothing about the story it might not be.
Overall, I have had a great experience with the workshops. It gives me an opportunity to get feedback on my work while getting the opportunity to read someone else’s work to get ideas and get better at editing.
