Reflection, bookmaking
I originally wanted to do a blue collage. I have a bunch of paper things that I collect to make collages but looking through the stuff I had I felt as though nothing related to what my poem portrayed. So, I pivoted and decided to draw with colored pencils. I drew an ice cube on a beach. I feel as though this portrays the poem very well and it seems contrary to the norm. My hope for the synergy is to create questions. It is not a normal thing to see ice on a beach. A beach has a condensation of being a warm place yet the ice has not melted.
On the back cover of the poem book I decided to draw a roaring fire. This is because the poem relates to needing fire to turn back into one’s pure self. The fire is drawn on the back cover of the book because it is separate from the ice. The ice metaphorically looks for this fire to turn back into water. But, it is hard to find because it takes work to get rid of all of the things that turn you into ice, you are going to have to search for that fire. Saying all of this, the content that I wrote within the poem reflects on the genre of drawing heavily.
