Dear,
Thank you for the laughter that came like sunlight through the blinds, for the patience that hummed beneath every silence. You taught me that love is not loud It comes with time And every dull moment Can be turned into a core memory That you can carry with you for life For the hugs that lingered Even when you have Not been here for 384 days.
Countering
For this journal I decided to use my interview that I did with the artistic director of SPAC. This is because it is one of the main sources that I will be referring to in my essay and she provided me with insight that I haven’t thought of yet. That is, there are more things that come into play for programming than just including diverse cultures, there is money and timing involved. From the interview I took the quote “We…
Current Media in Relation to Communications & Media Arts Majors
https://www.commpro.biz/news/communications-grads-face-a-tough-future-without-business-skills-and-real-world-hustle?utm_source=chatgpt.com As someone who is a Communications and Media Arts major with a minor in Business Administration and Writing I decided to pick the article “Communications Grads Face a Tough Future Without Business Skills and Real‐World Hustle” written by CommPRO. The article highlights that Communications graduates who are starting to enter the workforce are being advised by jobs to start to develop and understand simple business concepts. Since I am studying both Communication and Business this article is extremely relevant…
Sample Student Capstone Revision
The sample capstone proposals propose many strengths that make them effective plans. For example, the philosophy proposal stands out to me because there is a clear purpose. The student proposal demonstrates the students clear understanding of the philosophical debate of “Can God Just Allow Suffering?” and how their work will contribute to the debate. This is also shown in the English proposal. The proposal on animals in Victorian Literature shows an annotated bibliography with relevant sources. I enjoyed understanding how…
2QCQ
Quote 1 from Adrienne Rich, “Mourning Picture” “I am Effie, visible and invisible, remembering and remembered.” Quotation 2 from Fred Moramarco, “Speculations: Contemporary Poetry and Painting” “By converting painterly images to words, he/she “envoices” a canvas, finding a language for the ineffable world of colors and forms” (p. 25) CommentRich’s poem captures the strength and impact of being both present and absent in the line “I am Effie, visible and invisible”. This is because Effie is gone from reality but…
Previous Project Analysis
One of the pieces of work that I am most proud of is an article that I wrote about the Maine Mariners partnership with the university. After finishing this project I decided to have it published on The Bolt, which I am very proud of. I am also extremely proud of this interview because I interviewed 4 people for this article. I interviewed Conor Blake who is the manager of the Center for Sport and Business Innovation at UNE, Sam…
Finding and Interpreting Job Ads
The first quiz I took was based on characteristics of emotional intelligence. As a result I got 60/100 meaning I am “an emotionally intelligent person”, have great relationships, and people approach me for advice. This will be very good for my future career because I want to mainly work directly with people. If people feel as though they cannot go to the person that they are working alongside or even with for a few days you will not foster good…
Small/Future Career
Part 1 Helen Small’s introduction to The Value of the Humanities states that there are 5 distinct ways that humanities contribute to the public good. The first one states that they study the meaning-making practices of the culture, focusing on interpretation and evaluation with an indispensable element of subjectivity. This reminds me of my intercultural communication class that I took last semester. In this class I learned that there are multiple ways that communication can be interpreted among groups of…
What is Humanities? Harris/During
Maeve McDermott Professor Frank LIL420 Sept 2, 2025 Week 1 As a Communications and Media Arts major with a concentration in Public Relations I would describe humanities as understanding human connection, interpersonally and intrapersonally. Rather than focusing on concrete facts and laws, as one may do in sciences, the humanities research why things matter. Specifically, within a major of Communication, we connect humans through story telling and cultural awareness. While reading During’s article, “What Were the Humanities, Anyway?”, During’s main…
